DOT Physical – Greenville,

The DOT (Department of Transportation) physical exam is a mandatory medical evaluation required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for individuals:

  • Applying for or renewing a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
  • Operating a commercial motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more
  • Transporting hazardous materials requiring placarding under DOT regulations
  • Transporting 8 or more passengers (including driver) for compensation, or 15 or more passengers
  • Performing safety-sensitive jobs

This comprehensive assessment assesses vision, hearing, blood pressure, and overall health to ensure that drivers are physically capable of safely operating commercial motor vehicles. Additionally, the exam includes drug and alcohol screenings. Passing this examination results in the issuance of a medical certificate, allowing drivers to legally drive commercial vehicles and helping maintain road and work safety standards.
